Lemala Wildwaters Lodge

Lemala Wildwaters Lodge sits on Kalagala Island in the River Nile, around 25 kilometres downstream from Jinja and accessible only by boat. Granite rocks and powerful rapids surround the roughly six-hectare island, giving the property a setting unlike a conventional safari lodge. Ten raised timber suites are linked to the restaurant, bar and library by wooden walkways. Eight are standard suites and two have private pools; other suites include secluded decks, daybeds and freestanding outdoor baths. The main swimming pool projects above the river, while a spa provides a quieter counterpoint to rafting, kayaking, fishing and horse riding. Because of the river crossing and Grade 5-plus rapids, the lodge welcomes guests over 16 and applies strict arrival and supervision rules.
