Journey Overview
The full migration circuit covers every major site in the northern Tanzania system and finishes on Zanzibar. It follows the geographic sequence — Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, central Serengeti — then flies north to position for the Mara River crossings. Five nights across both Serengeti zones is the correct allocation: two in the central zone to see the moving herds, three in the north for crossing activity. Zanzibar follows as the coast extension.

Itinerary
Arrival — Arusha
Arrive Kilimanjaro International. Overnight Arusha.
Arusha to Tarangire
Tarangire National Park
Drive to Tarangire. Peak dry-season conditions — elephant concentrations at maximum density along the river. Afternoon game drive.
Tarangire to Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara National Park
Morning drive north to Lake Manyara. Afternoon through forest, acacia woodland, and lakeshore. Flamingo concentrations on the lake are strongest in the dry months.
Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Rim
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Morning drive out of Manyara. Drive to the Ngorongoro highlands. Arrive on the crater rim in the afternoon.
Full Day — Ngorongoro Crater
Full day descent. Black rhino, lion, flamingo, hippo. In the dry season the crater floor vegetation is shorter — sightlines longer, wildlife easier to locate. Return to rim late afternoon.
Ngorongoro to Central Serengeti
Drive into the Serengeti via Naabi Hill. Olduvai Gorge optional. Afternoon drive in Seronera area.
Full Day — Central Serengeti
Full day. In July–August migration herds may still be moving north through the central zone. Resident predators at maximum dry-season activity.
Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti
Charter flight from Seronera to Kogatende or Lamai (45 minutes). Arrive for an afternoon Mara River assessment drive.
Full Day — Northern Serengeti · Mara River
First full crossing day. Long hours at the river. Guide tracks multiple crossing points based on herd behaviour and crocodile activity. Packed lunch in the field.
Full Day — Northern Serengeti · Mara River
Second crossing day. Extended time at the river increases probability significantly. Between sessions, drives through the Lamai Wedge for resident wildlife.
Northern Serengeti to Zanzibar
Zanzibar — Stone Town
Morning drive. Fly from Kogatende to Zanzibar via Arusha. Arrive by mid-afternoon. Transfer to north coast property.
Zanzibar — Departure
Zanzibar — Stone Town
Full day at leisure on the north coast. Evening or next-morning departure from Zanzibar International Airport.
